I shot these in a bit of a rush when I was returning home the other day and discovered them all in one person’s garden. I planned to go back when I had more time, but, alas! They had all been removed.

Mushrooms are wonderful….to eat AND to photograph. I’m amazed at the variety of colors and shapes. For some reason I ALWAYS think about little fairies standing under them in the rain!

Thank you, Pam! Like you, I imagine fairies, too! Probably because growing up (well, and I still do with my nieces, and now my own daughter, along with my sister and mother) I always made little fairy worlds out in the woods, and mushrooms were always part of the design.)

Well, be grateful that you had your camera with you before they were removed at all! The mushroom in the fourth photo looks like an alien life-form ^_^ The first photo is cute too, as it contrasts two different species (?) of mushroom. But to sum up, I adore all the photos. 🙂

Je crois n’avoir encore jamais vu l’avant dernier. Il est encore trop tôt ici pour avoir ces champignons. Ils arriveront à la fin de l’été.

Moi non plus, je n’avais jamais vu l’avant dernier. J’ai l’impression que nos champignons sont arrivés assez tôt cette année, et il y en a partout!

Yes, it’s a bit odd that these fungi are arriving so early this year. We had an early spell of very hot weather, so that may have gotten things a bit out of order. Strange…. I almost didn’t post that 4th one because I thought the image was too poor, and now it turns out that’s the one everyone is most interested in. 🙂

You have quite the variety of ‘shrooms! Great photos, all of them, but like the others, I am particularly drawn to the fourth one. It’s quite unusual!

Thanks, Carissa. Yes, I was surprised and pleased to find such a variety in one place. I just mentioned to Yoshizen that I almost didn’t post that 4th one, since I felt the quality wasn’t quite good enough, but everyone seems to be most intrigued by that one.

These are gorgeous photographs! The colors are wonderful and the textures! You are something else with that little camera. What you do fascinates me! Each one more interesting than the last! I love watching you do this! 🙂

Thank you, Finn. You know, I am finding as I’m exploring that there is so much that I don’t know, and, unfortunately, I don’t know what these are. I’ve already decided to invest in a very good insect reference book, and I think a fungi reference will be next on the list! 🙂

I like the mushrooms, Melanie…and love the forest floor in each of the photos…looks very similar to mine out here…teeming with life-in-waiting. 🙂

Many of the mushrooms are so tasty to the woodland creatures (mostly slugs and flies by my observations), that it is sometimes difficult to find one in pristine condition.
