Mushrooms

I shot these in a bit of a rush when I was returning home the other day and discovered them all in one person’s garden.  I planned to go back when I had more time, but, alas! They had all been removed.

  3. Mushrooms are wonderful….to eat AND to photograph. I’m amazed at the variety of colors and shapes. For some reason I ALWAYS think about little fairies standing under them in the rain!

    • Thank you, Pam! Like you, I imagine fairies, too! Probably because growing up (well, and I still do with my nieces, and now my own daughter, along with my sister and mother) I always made little fairy worlds out in the woods, and mushrooms were always part of the design.)

Well, be grateful that you had your camera with you before they were removed at all! The mushroom in the fourth photo looks like an alien life-form ^_^ The first photo is cute too, as it contrasts two different species (?) of mushroom. But to sum up, I adore all the photos. 🙂

  6. M m m ? —– interesting though, what climate you got ?
    Isn’t it early summer isn’t it ?
I like 4th photo. It looks almost like sea coral.

    • Yes, it’s a bit odd that these fungi are arriving so early this year. We had an early spell of very hot weather, so that may have gotten things a bit out of order. Strange…. I almost didn’t post that 4th one because I thought the image was too poor, and now it turns out that’s the one everyone is most interested in. 🙂

  7. Nice pictures.

  8. You have quite the variety of ‘shrooms! Great photos, all of them, but like the others, I am particularly drawn to the fourth one. It’s quite unusual!

    • Thanks, Carissa. Yes, I was surprised and pleased to find such a variety in one place. I just mentioned to Yoshizen that I almost didn’t post that 4th one, since I felt the quality wasn’t quite good enough, but everyone seems to be most intrigued by that one.

    • Thank you, George. Your words mean a lot to me. I’m having a great time with the Lumix, as you know. It’s capable of so much, and I feel like I’m only at the beginning of my discoveries.

  14. Fine pictures Melanie, do you know what they are?

    June 8, 2012 at 8:12 pm

    • Thank you, Finn. You know, I am finding as I’m exploring that there is so much that I don’t know, and, unfortunately, I don’t know what these are. I’ve already decided to invest in a very good insect reference book, and I think a fungi reference will be next on the list! 🙂

  15. How impressive, how beautiful… Thank you dear Melanie, have a nice weekend, love, nia

    June 8, 2012 at 9:45 pm

    • Thank you very much, nia. I thought of you today when I was out with my camera and came across some very friendly outdoor kitties. I took their photographs. It’s so fun when they’re so social like that, but it’s hard to take their pictures when they’re so eager for attention! 🙂

    • I’m glad you like these, Scott. I’ve always been fascinated with mushrooms, although I haven’t yet had a chance to study their types. This is something I hope to do sometime.

      June 12, 2012 at 12:42 pm

      • I like them very much…it’s fascinating the many forms that life takes…tucked away and thriving….
