  12. Looking forward to following your blog. Thanks for stopping by mine.
I find your photos interesting- wearing your great great grandmother’s clothes. So creative.

    February 8, 2012 at 12:25 am

    • Thank you so much. I’m so grateful for your visit and comment. My mother, sister, and I all had a fabulous time trying on those clothes… Most of them were too tiny to fit into, and we were afraid to breathe in most of the ones we could wriggle into, for fear of some dreadful rrrrrip! Next year we plan to have a formal tea (and photo shoot, of course) with our great-great grandmother’s tea set while also wearing our favorite outfit (of hers). I’m not sure, however, if any of us will actually be able to sit down in the dresses. 🙂

  23. Dear Melaine, your blog is so beautiful and I love to visit always but I haven’t seen this page before, your photographs are so beautiful, what a nice customs…. Thank you, Blessing and Happiness, with my love, nia

    March 28, 2012 at 8:27 am

    • Hi, nia! Thank you for visiting my “about” page. These shots are from a dress-up party my sister and mother and I had a few months ago. My mother still has many of the dresses (and other clothing) of our ancestors. We had a lot of fun trying some of the dresses on, but some of the women in our family must have been TINY… we were afraid to try some of the clothes on for fear of ripping them. But what a treasure these are to have in our family. Some day my little 3-year-old daughter Lillia will try them on, too. 🙂

      March 28, 2012 at 7:17 pm

      • Dear Melanie, this seems great fun. I remember when I was a little girl, there was a neighbour and they have a daugther in the same age with me. When visit them, she always opened the old wooden box from her grandmother. It was full of old customes… with lace and long… We were wearing them… But we are very small! You reminded me these days… So I can imagine how amazing your custome party. You are welcome and Thank you, with my love, nia

        March 28, 2012 at 7:31 pm

        • How much fun you must have had! My sister and I used to do the same with my grandmother’s clothes when we were small. Her dresses were HUGE on us when we were children (and she was a petite woman), but we had so much fun putting them on and prancing around like grand ladies. 🙂 Are you still in touch with your friend from those days?

          March 28, 2012 at 7:40 pm

  24. No dear Melanie… In times everybody went somewhere else and we lost each other… It’s been for a long time… Actually nothing remained from my childhood days… they are only in my memories… How strange or interesting, in different cultures we can find same memories… and how nice these memories how make closer me to your memories too… Love, nia

    March 28, 2012 at 7:46 pm

    • Yes, this is how it happens… Our childhoods pass, but we carry and cherish our memories. It is so wonderful that we can connect through our memories this way, over this long distance, and find experiences that we have in common. It has been so nice for me to remember. I hope it has been for you, too. A big hug to you, nia!

      March 28, 2012 at 7:58 pm

      • A big hug to you too dear Melanie… you are so nice and I wished to be near you.

        March 28, 2012 at 8:01 pm

  25. Hi Lemony, I look forward to viewing your creations, just to see you develop. For instance, today I will comment on your dedicated post to Canon (the dandelion) as I think it’s lovely.

PS: Those clothes are so now….your grandmother’s? wow!

Here’s a link to a post I think you will love, absolutely, it’s a humorous view about eggs (your blogname inspired me): http://jugorum.wordpress.com/2011/11/07/gary-baseman/. Enjoy! 😀

    April 6, 2012 at 7:53 pm

    • Wow, thank you so much, first of all, for your very kind words. I’m really grateful for your encouragement! Second, I laughed my head off when I saw the link to the eggs. I LOVE it! That’s absolutely hilarious! Thank you for thinking of me. 🙂

Oh, and by the way, the clothes are my great GREAT grandmothers… late 1800s!

I have added a link to your blog on my American Photographer Links. Thanks for following and commenting on my blog. It is most appreciated.

    April 23, 2012 at 8:31 pm

    • Joseph, I was overjoyed to see the many comments you left for me today. The kind and thoughtful attention you gave to my photographs really meant so much to me. I am profoundly grateful for your time and for the feedback you offered. I admire your work so much and visit your blog regularly for information and inspiration. Your blog is really in a class by itself, and while I don’t always have the time (or words) to comment in the way I’d like, I thoroughly enjoy your posts. That you would include me on your list of American Photographer Links is such an incredibly generous gesture. Thank you very, very much for doing that. I’ve actually used your list on more than one occasion to find and link to other blogs. It’s a great resource. You are very kind to add my link there. Thank you again.

      April 24, 2012 at 12:51 am

  32. Melanie, I sent you an email a few days ago telling you I finished our project. All I need now is your mailing address.

    May 10, 2012 at 3:08 pm

  33. Hi Lemony, I wanted you to know that you are the Artist of the Day on my blog:

    http://destructivetesting.wordpress.com/2012/06/09/artist-of-the-day-lemony-gregghead

Please let me know if you would like me to add or change anything.

The main purpose of the blog is to share the ‘Artistic Process’. What and where artists do what they do to create their art.

I’d appreciate it if you would consider sending me some photos for my ‘Work Spaces’ and/or ‘Making It’ categories.

Please send any photos to mfsmith46@gmail.com.

And, of course, I’d like you to share this with anyone who might be interested.

I have received messages like the following:
Darcy commented on Artist of the Day / Sandy Martinez
“Thanks for allowing us to know a bit more about the artist.”

    thanks, Mike

    June 10, 2012 at 3:25 am

  36. Hello and Greetings! My eyes are drawn to simplicity and your blog is simplicity at its best. I have enjoyed combing through your photos and have been especially captivated by your macro shots, which is the very thing that introduced me to photography. I have also taken the liberty to read some of the comments here and it appears we share a name; if so, I think I understand the Lemony part, but of course, wild assumptions for me at this point. I look forward to seeing more of your work! Cheers, Melanie

    June 21, 2012 at 7:24 pm

    • Hi, Melanie. Thank you so much for your visit! I’m very grateful that you took the time to look around. We do indeed share a name, and I’m glad you understand the Lemony part–a lot of people don’t 🙂 I really enjoyed exploring your blog, too, and am excited to stay tuned for future posts. Thanks again for stopping in. Lemony

  43. I like the first picture! I like the air of the photo and you look so calm and pretty in it 😀

    October 24, 2012 at 10:18 am

  44. I have to ask whether you derived Lemony from Melanie by swapping the sounds of the M and L.

    November 27, 2012 at 5:56 am

    • Hi, Steve. That’s exactly right. It came about when I was two years old, and a young child across the street could not pronounce my name without inverting the sounds this way. I, of course, changed the spelling a bit.

      November 27, 2012 at 11:41 am

      • The linguistic term for that kind of sound reversal is metathesis, so Lemony is metathesized Melanie, which makes for a good alliteration.

        November 27, 2012 at 2:13 pm

        • Yes, metathesis, a wonderful linguistic phenomenon (when it is intentional 🙂 . I love word play, and am particularly interested in verlan in French, where the transposition of syllabes is very frequent, and now (and has been for a long time) part of everyday slang. Of course, we have many examples in English that are simply the result of errors.

          November 27, 2012 at 4:59 pm

  45. I just now realized that you live in Maine. Don’t know why I didn’t see that before. I’m from Kennebunk. Nice to meet a fellow Mainer, Melanie.

    February 14, 2013 at 2:01 pm

    • Thanks for your nice note. I’m only in Maine part of the year, but I love it up there. I live in Pennsylvania, and my parents live in Maine (up near Ellsworth).

How have you changed the intensity of the colours and the size of the information below your blog? You can see the difference with my blog with the same “theme”.

    • Thank you so much for your kind words, Ronald, and your visits to my blog. If I remember correctly, I purchased the “booster pack” of fonts and colors that was available when I bought the theme, and this is what makes it possible to change the colors and size of the information below my blog. I’m not sure if that custom option is still available or not but you could check to see in the WP “store”. 🙂

      • Thanks for your information. Ik heb toch besloten om voor mijn blog de theme “Hatch” te kiezen. Zo kan je snel zien welke foto’s bij een bepaalde categorie of tag horen.

  63. Lemony it’s been a long time since I had the pleasure of viewing your gorgeous photos! Do you still visit your shelter from time to time? Sammy is now 16-1/2 and we often think of your wonderful posts with the residents of the shelter as you spread your lemony sunshine among them. Take care……..

    Hugs, Pam (and Sammy)

    • Hi, Pam and Sammy! I’m so sorry it has taken such a long time to reply! I’ve been meaning to for weeks! It was so kind of you to drop by and leave a note and hugs. 🙂 Yes, yes: everything is going well at the shelter. There have been a few adoptions from the Special Needs room. (Hooray!) There are some new residents, too, of course. There is a one-year-old in the room at the moment (injured back legs from what must have been a very bad accident). All of the senior kitties are trying to keep him in line and teach him some manners. All he wants to do is play, and all THEY want to do is SLEEP. 🙂 I can’t believe Sammy is 16 1/2. Is he in good health? I bet he is glad the warm weather finally arrived. 🙂 Thanks so much for the visit!

      • Oh so good to hear from you and we’re happy you and your daughter are doing well!! We think of you often – miss hearing about the shelter but happy to know that some have finally left for a new home. Sam has hyperthyroidism and had been good about taking his medication until recently…..I’m having problems pilling him now – he HATES the piller!!!!! I was crushing his pill and mixing it in his food – he won’t eat that either…..he’s driving me nuts but I love him SO MUCH I’ll do anything to help him. Anyway, life goes on…..and we’ll do our best for him.

        Sending you MORE hugs!
        Pam and Sam

        May 28, 2016 at 2:08 pm

        • Ohh, I’m sorry to hear about Sammy’s hyperthyroidism and the trouble you’re having giving him his pills. When our senior kitty (who died in February) started refusing our regular tricks for sneaking in her medications, we started serving it to her in a small spoonful of baby food, which she loved. The higher protein in the baby food, of course, isn’t great for the kidneys but our vet said it was all right, under the circumstances. She eventually got bored of that, too, but it did work for a long time. HUGS to you and Sammy, too! Lemony

          June 2, 2016 at 8:55 am

          • Baby food worked with Sam for quite a while…..now I have a basket full of it that he won’t touch! HAHA. He’s been pretty good about pilling though – I think as I’ve learned how to do it, he’s more relaxed too. We’ll get through it all. Sorry you lost your kitty in February. I know that Sam won’t be here forever so I concentrate on every day I do have being full of love for him. All the best to you dear Lemony. Hugs, Pam and Sam

oh, okay. I didn’t know how you found me, but I do now 🙂 I see your comments on Paul’s blog, which I didn’t at first. I thought you were some kind of word press stalker LOL! I’ve had those before when I had a popular WordPress blog with thousands of followers.

If ever you would like to feature your photographs in some way as an accompaniment to articles on my Alzheimersstory.com, let me know. At the moment I use stock images which I treat using my woefully limited knowledge of Photoshop 😛

The site is here in case you haven’t seen it before: http://myalzheimersstory.com/ or maybe you’re a subscriber…?

I also run this site for which I also use images to make quote memes: http://shequotes.com/

I fancy myself a bit of an amateur photographer – I work mostly with my antiquated iPhone 4 LOL 😛

Your images are beautiful. And I’m glad I subscribed to your blog. X Susan

        July 28, 2016 at 1:14 pm

        • Thank you, Susan, for taking the time to visit and comment, and for your very kind words about my photographs. I’m also very grateful for your idea and offer to have some of my images featured with an article on your website, which I did not know about, and will definitely check out. It’s amazing what we can do with iPhones, isn’t it?! I use my iPhone a lot, too. I’ll have a look at the shequotes site, too. See you soon on your sites! –Lemony
