Mytilus … the edible Blue Mussel. Joanna and I had these (farmed) on our trip to PEI a few years ago … with a little garlic butter, they couldn’t be bettered. I can see a bit of nacre layer on the inside surface of that right-hand valve. Nice, quiet, image.

Your choice of composition, crop, and selective focus is a bit unorthodox, but imaginative and inspiring. I like it that you’ve left the band of lighter color at the top, whereas I probably would have lowered the upper border of the visible to exclude it. How refreshing that we don’t all see the possibilities in the same way!
