Flower bud?

berry or budNot sure about this one. It is about the size of a large blueberry. Does anyone recognize what it is?

  1. It looks like a dahlia bud to me. Such pretty colours!

    • Thank you! I think dahlia buds are much larger than this, and are green, whereas this one is sort of purpleish-red. It’s really unusual!

      • I have seen dahlia buds that colour – I think they were a special variety. I’ve some photos of them on my laptop somewhere!

        • With some help, I pursued this further and you are absolutely right! It’s a Bishop of Llandaff Dahlia. Thanks so much for your help! 🙂

          • You’re welcome 🙂 I didn’t recognise it as Bishop of Llandaff but that’s one of my favourite dahlia varieties!

    • Thank you, Karen. I had some help looking into it further and learned that it is a Bishop of Llandaff Dahlia. I was only familiar with the much larger more intricate varieties of the dahlia. I’m pleased to learn the name of this flower. Thank you for your help! 🙂
