Wow, these are so elegant. They look like they’re ready for a 1920s ball.

Wonderful comment, thank you, Richard. I was unsure about these! These irises torture me with their tricky lines and shapes. 😉

YES! They are silky and elegant and just wonderful. The PP is superb, Lemony. I love the deep sepia and white. You managed to transform the damned iris into the graceful pirouetting diva in a garden ballet! 🙂

Well, George, what a nice thing to say! Thank you for these encouraging words. I came so close to not posting these. I’ve really lost my ability to judge my photographs of these
damnedflowers at this point. But for some reason I couldn’t give up on them (or myself, rather), even though they’re driving me nuts. I have others, but don’t know what to think about them. And more of a different kind of iris from a special garden you know about, but will save those for another time. You and Regina have inspired me to keep at it, you know. Thank you for that!May 15, 2013 at 11:07 pm
These are gorgeous, Melanie. You do wonders with your photos.

Oh, thank you so much, Maralee. Such a nice compliment. I really almost didn’t post these; I just was so unsure about these images. I’m grateful for your feedback.

They almost look like they were silver plated. I love irises.

My irises are all so colorful…it would not have occurred to me to make them black and white. Pure line, that way. Thanks for going with your guts and posting these, Melanie. An interesting perspective. LOVE irises!

Très belle mise en valeur. Ils en ressortent “nobles”. Magnifique.

Who’s irises are they and why are they damned and who’s George?

Beautiful

The desaturation brings these irises into another realm-they are more regal somehow-beautiful.

Thank you, Elena. Your comment is helpful to me. I struggle very much when trying to capture irises!

Incredibly luminous! Love!

Thank you so much, Karen. These irises are difficult for me, and I am still struggling to approach them in a way that I find works for the way I see. I’m glad for your feedback and encouragement.
