  1. Even your “rejects” are awesome. Beautiful work, Melanie!

  2. Some must be wondered, why they have been rejected 🙂
This batch, some are pretty dramatic, some are subtle and pretty.
    I like them.

    • Well, it wasn’t really so much that they were rejected, entirely; it was more that they didn’t make the “first cut” when I was choosing individual images to highlight for posts. I’m really glad to know that some of them are successful photographs to your critical eye.

  4. I’m with Carissa – I’d like a few of your rejects in my portfolio! 😉

  5. I wouldn’t call these rejects. They’re beautiful.

  8. Ah, the alien topography series! I just love the grinding, creaking, snapping drama in these.

  9. How did you decide tghat these weren’t up to scratch? You must have very rigid selection criteria 🙂

    • Hi, Finn. Well, after over a month and a half of featured individual images, I had a number of photos that didn’t make the “first cut” for one reason or another; I just didn’t connect with them on the first run, and so I ended up grouping them together this past week. They’re not really rejects, but they also weren’t my first choices either. I’ve dropped by your blog several times in recent weeks, and have always been amazed by your images and narrative. I never just simply want to click the “like” button, but would prefer to leave some comments. I never seem to have time to say all that I want to say, so I keep telling myself that I’ll stop by back when I have more time (which doesn’t seem to happen ever 😦 ). I think your blog is fabulous, both for your informative writing, and for your fantastic photographs.

      • Hello Melanie, thank you very much for the nice things you said about my blog. I completely understand with the time thing, I often struggle with finding the right comment. I’m now up to around 50 blogs that I follow and it’s impossible to keep up all the time so I’ve resigned myself to the idea that I’ll limit the number of views, but it’s simply too big a job to regularly read all of them. So I’ll just keep snapping and writing and hopefully folk out there enjoy what I post sufficiently to drop by every now and then.

Great ice shots though Melanie. Even the rejects 🙂
