  2. I wonder who (or what) you might’ve found in that freezer. Good on you for NOT looking!!

  3. Aw, I wanted to see inside… These are very interesting photos. The inside looks to be in good condition compared to the outside. I like these.

    • I just couldn’t bring myself to lift the lid of the freezer, or actually even to step inside the shack for that matter. I don’t usually spook easily, but I was on private property, and I was just uneasy all around.

I agree with George, the inside of this old place isn’t so bad. It doesn’t look any worse than the cabin my daughter spent her first summer camp…
    Great shots!

    • Call Protective Services! Quick! 🙂

Ha, you would have been doing a cabin full of campers a huge favor. I wonder if it’s been condemned by now – probably make a great photo shoot!

    • I’m glad you like the shots. The inside of the building wasn’t so bad, you’re right. I just had this fear that if I stepped inside it, I might be surprised by someone else!

You make a good point! We probably shouldn’t be wandering around vacant buildings by ourselves. I do it too, and it can be unsettling. They are like magnets though, aren’t they!

  5. Wow…what do you suppose WAS in that old freezer. I’m with you – it’s best left to the imagination! Great shots.

    • I was a bit spooked that day… something about that old property just had me on edge. I just sensed it was better to leave without exploring any further. Maybe someday I’ll go back, but with company. 🙂

I like the transition of the types of wood, weathered look and monotones. Barn and other types of wood used in these buildings brings out the best in photography!

  8. Beautiful and good choice to make them in b/w.

  9. Wonderful photos. I wouldn’t have looked in the freezer either.

    • Thank you. Yes, I just couldn’t bring myself to even have a peek!

  10. I love places like this.

  11. These shots really put across the abandonment. Like the wells of inky darkness very much. Don’t blame you for not looking in the freezer – whatever’s been left in there’s not going to be good!

    • Yes, whatever is in that freezer is not in good shape. I’d really rather not know. 🙂

  12. Very interesting shots Melanie.
I like all the angles and lines that you captured.
Are you going inside any time soon?

    • Pablo, this is one place I probably won’t be visiting. It just felt all wrong; do you know what I mean? I was completely creeped out for some reason. If I do go back, I’ll probably go with friends to keep me company. 🙂

  13. Probably a good idea! I like the tones in these, Lemony. And those stairs are intriguing…

    September 4, 2012 at 6:16 pm

    • Thank you, Karen. Yes, the stairs were intriguing to me, too, but I just couldn’t bring myself to go into that shack without some back-up or someone to know I was there. I just had a bad feeling about that place, and ended up leaving before exploring more. Maybe sometime I’ll go back with company. 🙂
