This is stunning. I feel peaceful just looking at it.
July 23, 2012 at 3:27 pm
Thank you. I’m so glad it has that effect for you.

M m m m, it’s quite a change isn’t it.
Instead to piercing YOUR eyes deep into, the air permeate and absorbing your sense.
It’s mean, your mind is now fully open = ready to receive and hear invisible and inaudible.

Thank you for this observation, yoshizen. I’m always so grateful for your comments. I did indeed have a different frame of mind this day.

Before, you try to speak through the image. But this time you are just listening.
Because the Pond is so still and silent.

I love the moodiness of this photo – serene and slightly ominous, as if a thunder storm is on the way… great capture!!!
July 23, 2012 at 4:34 pm
Thank you very much. You’re seeing exactly what I was hoping to capture… there is a dark serenity here.

Welcome back Melanie….this is gorgeous – I feel like it’s chilly, still, either very quiet or one lone bird off in the distance calling – but it’s a wonderful “mood” shot.
Pam (and Sam)

Thank you, Pam and Sam. I’m only back for a few days before another trip (this time in the opposite direction… headed to Florida!) I’m glad you like this photograph. Actually, there are a pair of birds on this pond–a beautiful pair of loons, and I did, as a matter of fact, hear one calling as I took photographs that day. 🙂

Very much so…and you’re welcome. 🙂
July 24, 2012 at 12:55 pm
Very dreamy.
July 23, 2012 at 6:56 pm
Wow, what a great shot! Love its delicacy – teetering on the edge of disappearance – really beautiful.
July 23, 2012 at 8:40 pm
Thank you, Richard. Yes, it was an interesting race against the light, actually. I was hoping to catch it just as it was (I ran down to the water, when I saw the fog. The other shore (tree line, etc.) did look as though it were disappearing, and yet what was happening in reality was that the fog was beginning to dissipate and so they were really beginning to break through the fog and “reappear.” Fortunately, I clicked in time. 🙂

Truly impressionistic. You have used light and atmosphere to create an ambiguous mood which evokes a very subjective response; peaceful to some, and foreboding to others. This also inspires deep reflection. A new direction for you, but one well worth exploring further.
July 23, 2012 at 11:49 pm
Thank you, Rick, for your thoughtful and encouraging comment. The mood is, as you have said so beautifully, ambiguous. I am glad to see the variety of responses to it.
July 24, 2012 at 12:15 pm
Great shot, there’s very little in it but at the same time there’s so much going on. As Rick said in the comment above, a plethora of emotions to be evoked depending on the mood of the beholder. Emptiness full of something intangible!
July 24, 2012 at 7:18 am
Thank you, Finn. I really enjoy your comment. It adds something really special to my image.
July 24, 2012 at 12:24 pm
Absolutely incredible!
July 24, 2012 at 12:46 pm
I meant to add that choosing to shoot in portrait mode and leaving so much white space is very effective.
July 24, 2012 at 12:47 pm
Wonderful, calm. 🙂
July 25, 2012 at 7:18 am
It is a very calm place. I just love to go there.

Stunning! love the atmosphere. 🙂
July 25, 2012 at 11:59 pm
would you share with me how you got this shot and if you already have in the comments just tell me and I will dive into them :-)?
July 27, 2012 at 6:52 pm
Hi, Michael. I’ve been out of town (and so out of touch)… Sorry for the late reply. This shot was all about timing. A mad dash from the deck down to the edge of the water before the fog lifted. It’s an early morning shot, so the light was just right. And then I post-processed in Lightroom 3 for the B&W. I’m way behind on everyone’s blogs, since I’ve been without a computer (on purpose… You know how it is; we all need a break from our technology every once in a while 🙂 ) But I’m back and will be catching up soon! Hope all is well with you!!

This is a really dreamy shot!
Love the whole scene, it would be a great cover for a mystery book 🙂
July 28, 2012 at 6:56 pm
Wonderful, dreamlike foggy atmosphere.

Thank you for stopping in. I appreciate your comment.

Phenomenal photo! I really love this. It feels like it’s something more from a dream than real life. The more you try to think of the details the more they slip away. Excellent minimalist landscape. The reflection, the fog, the murkiness; it all really comes together.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. You experience the image exactly as I was hoping.
August 5, 2012 at 7:13 pm
Oooooo, so beautiful but also creepy! (Did you ever see “The Fog”? :))
August 20, 2012 at 12:16 am
I haven’t seen the “The Fog.” But now that you’ve mentioned it, I’ll check into it! 🙂 Thanks!
August 20, 2012 at 1:28 pm
Brilliant image – perfectly balanced and composed. Love the air of mystery to it that the mist generates
August 29, 2012 at 12:36 pm
