  1. Very nice…..loves those windows (image 1)…I hope you checked the Wasps nest before you got that close 😉

    • I just held my breath and hoped for the best when I saw the nest. I’ll have a few more close-ups tomorrow of things you’d expect to find in a structure like this.

  2. Beautiful Melanie… love the atmosphere you created here…actually the building created that for you, but you captured it so well

    • Thank you, Joanna. I had fun on this adventure! I’ll have a few more photos tomorrow to show a few things I found inside.

  3. you managed to create an exciting, tantalizing atmosphere with / out of these ordinary things – it’s in the shades, the unexpected angles – love it !

    • Thank you, Katrien. I had a lot of fun with this group of photos.

  4. That is an outstanding series of photographs. I really like the duo-tone quality, it really enhances the subject. And although the subject matter is quite simple in itself, the real subject of the photograph opens up for so many different interpretations. The pictures hold so much mystery and unanswered questions. Well captured and beautifully processed.

    • Thank you so much for this feedback and your generous comments. You have pulled from this series exactly what I hoped! Sometimes the split-tone really expresses the mood of the scene that I want. I’m glad you think so, too.

Really nice treatment to these! Fits well! All good but I really like the abstract no. 7 especially! Regards, Steve

    • Thank you, Steve, for your nice words. I’m glad you like the abstract shot; that’s actually my favorite shot of the series, too.

  11. Great set of photos Melanie.
Absolutelly loved the first one over the other one, I don’t know why, there is like a mysteryous atmosphere that makes me feel that I’m there.
    Niecly done!

    • Thanks, Pablo. I really appreciate your comments. I put that first one in first position because I felt it sort of set the tone for the ones to follow.

  15. Guy

    Hi

A great set of photos very spooky and atmospheric. You got a lot of detail as well which really captures the subjects and the way you strung the images together makes it look vey cinematic.

    • Thank you so much, Guy. I did have a sort of “movie” in my head when I put this together, so I’m really happy that you saw that. Thank you for stopping by and for leaving your feedback. I really appreciate it!

  16. Love the effect on the photos. I am a little spooked which is the reaction I’m thinking u were going for, right? :).

    February 26, 2012 at 9:53 pm

    • Thank you! Yes, that’s exactly what I was going for! 🙂

  19. The windows are compelling…and nice touch with the color.

    February 28, 2012 at 1:07 am

    • Thank you. Once I went with the split tones on the windows, that launched the whole series. My imagination took off. 🙂

      February 28, 2012 at 1:20 am

      • You’re welcome…it went very well. 🙂

  20. George Weaver

I reacted exactly as Munchow did. The split tones enhance the photos and give them real depth and character and mystery. I REALLY like the interpretation here.

    March 2, 2012 at 7:49 am

    • Thank you, George. I’m glad you felt the mysterious feel I was going for here.

    March 10, 2012 at 12:07 pm

    • Thank you, Adrian! I really appreciate your visit! I’m still working on figuring out how I “see” (your advice from an exchange we had on one of your posts a couple of weeks ago has really gotten me thinking.)
