A Copper Moon
I’ve become quite bold about dashing into strangers’ yards to photograph something that catches my eye. Yesterday I saw this beautiful birdbath that had fallen over (I can’t imagine how, it looks like it weighs a ton). The colors of the patina that are forming on its surface were glimmering in the afternoon light. I couldn’t resist stretching right out in this unknown person’s yard to have a closer look. Of course, I helped myself to a few shots.

Wired story and the wired images which took me for a minute to see the top photo was a squeezed image of the same [land scape] 😉
What so ever, the image is the image and it’s a good find.

That top image is a bit whacky… I didn’t intentionally squeeze it; I just came at it from an angle, and this is the result. Depending on how you look at it, the “crater” is concave or convex. It shifts around: or at least it does for me… my depth perception is a bit off, so this may only happen when I look at it! 🙂 Thanks for your comment, Yoshizen!

It came out very well, I really like the texture!
I gotta say that the picture from yesterday, in black and white looks amazing, it really enhances the detail of the drops.

It’s got to be done from time to time.
Just make sure you always wear your running shoes when you go out with your camera.

I REALLY like the first two images. For me, knowing what the actual object is (patina on a birdbath) actually detracts from my simple enjoyment of the images. But I’m always supportive of guerilla tactics….

I’ve only dashed into a few yards thus far, but I have my eye on an old, broken down tow truck that sits in a yard I pass on the highway. I’ve been very hesitant to sneak up and get a picture because it looks like one of those places where they keep a shotgun at the front door hehe. Great shots. The third one is my favorite. I like how my eye is drawn more to the pattern than the raised part.

Denzil, this sounds like a PERFECT place for a great photo opportunity (minus the shotgun part–that’s a bit scary, and I know what you mean). Any chance you could knock on the door and ask if you could take the pics, just to be safe? Now I want to see the shot. Go for it!
Thanks for you comment about the 3rd photo. I was a bit unsure about the composition on that one, but was also really drawn to the interior of the disk.
